EFA stands for European Fighter Aircraft. The Eurofighter Typhoon is one of the most advanced planes on the planet, its only rivals being the US F-22 Raptor and the Russian MiG MFI (and perhaps the Su-37). Out of the three, the Eurofighter is the most cost effective. It is a multi-role fighter, meaning that it is not meant for one particular purpose; it can be used for many different purposes. It is built and used by four nations: Britain, Germany, Spain and Italy. Some have been sold to other countries, such as Saudi Arabia, which has recently bought 72 of this beautiful aircraft. The Eurofighter is built to be aerodynamically unstable, to improve its agility. It needs about 70 computers just to keep it in the air. Its agility really is amazing. It is the only plane in the world to be able to do aerobatic manoeuvres while going super-sonic speeds. It handles at these speeds almost as well as at sub-sonic speeds! Even the F-22 is by far outperformed by the Eurofighter in this area. The Eurofighter can withstand up to 9G for sustained periods of time, unlike older planes such as the F-15 Eagle, which can withstand 9G, but only for a few seconds.

Some interesting features about the Typhoon:

-Carefree handling.

-Voice recognition (can recognise up to 200 spoken commands by the pilot).

-Sight-activated missile firing. The pilot has a kind of helmet which enables him to just look at an enemy plane to lock on.

-Supercruise. The ability to fly at super-sonic speeds without afterburner, which uses a lot of fuel and increases the heat coming from the back of the plane, making the plane an easy target for heat seeking missiles. So having cooler air coming out the back of the plane is good. Only the F-22 Raptor can also do this.
