The F-5 is a lightwieght supersonic fighter with good mobility. It’s easy to maintain and has two engines to reduce likelihood of stalling. Its mid-elevation (13,000 ft) manoeuvrability is superb, making it highly suitable for scouting missions.

An air-to-ground attack plane, it has been designed with an expert minigun on the front. Though lacking in speed, it is easy to manoeuvre at low altitudes and has a large load capacity. It is built to with stand attacks from the ground.

The best of the Mirage series. Unlike most aircraft, this aerodynamically desgined fighter has no horizantal tail plane, and its winga are modelled on equilateral triangles. This enables the aircraft to cruise at speeds between Mach 1.0 and 1.2 with little change in flight characteristics.

Supermarine Spitfire

The Supermarine Spitfire was a British single-seat fighter, used by the Royal Air Force and also by many other Allied airforces during the Second World War, and into the 1950s. It was produced in greater numbers than any other Allied design (though more Hurricanes were used in the Second World War than Spitfires). The Spitfire was the only Allied fighter in production at the outbreak of the Second World War that was still in production at the end of the war.

Produced by the Supermarine subsidiary of Vickers-Armstrongs, the Spitfire was designed by the company’s Chief Designer R. J. Mitchell, who continued to refine the design until his death from cancer in 1937; the position of chief designer was then filled by his colleague, Joseph Smith. Its elliptical wing had a thin cross-section, allowing a higher top speed than the Hawker Hurricane and other contemporary designs; it also resulted in a distinctive appearance, enhancing its overall streamlined features. The Spitfire was very manoeuvrable, which was a particularly important aspect of a good fighter plane, especially in the Second World War, as weapon guidance and heat seeking missiles did not exist in this time. This meant that, to ensure a kill, fighter pilots would have to manoeuvre themselves to become close behind an enemy, making accurate shooting much easier. Much loved by its pilots for its agility, the Spitfire served during the whole of the Second World War and later years, in most theatres of war, and in many different variants.

The Spitfire’s main adversary was the German Messerschmitt Bf 109, both being among the finest fighter aircraft of their day.

We have recently been writing a lot about planes (which makes sense because that is what this blog is about), but we haven’t written about the blog itself. In this blog we will write about anything to do with the word “plane”. We will also write notices about things that are happening with the blog such as a very good number of hits. Take a look around and make sure you tell your friends about it (especially if a friend has a particular interest in planes)! A cool plane

A very cool plane in our opinion is the Leerjet 45. OK, it isn’t a really fancy fighter jet with loads of computers and missiles and guns. But that doesn’t stop it being cool. Its cooler than the Dassault Super Etendard anyway. The leerjet 45 is the ultimate private jet. Fast, comfortable, not too big but not too small and above all cool looking. Another cool thing about it is that it was the first jet J ever flew on Microsoft Flight Simulator (that was FS98. He now has FSX Deluxe addition with the Acceleration expansion pack. He skipped from 98 to 2004 then to X… hes a bit crazy about Flight Simulators). It makes a nice sound aswell. And it feels like a proper jet. Its also not too hard to fly either (at least, in Microsoft FS it isn’t). It’s also something different from all the military planes that we always talk about.
